My Favorite Websites & Apps for Green Beauty and Natural Living

EWG’s Skin Deep Cosmetics Database

Now in its eighth year, EWG’s (Environmental Working Group) Skin Deep database provides you with easy-to-navigate ratings for a wide range of personal care/cosmetic products and ingredients on the market. You can search over 70,000 products and 2,000 brands! The American government doesn’t require health studies or pre-market testing of the chemicals in personal care products, even though just about everyone is exposed to them. Through Skin Deep, they put the power of information in consumers’ hands. When you know what’s in the products you bring into your home and how those chemicals may affect your health and the environment, you can make informed purchasing decisions — and help transform the marketplace. At the same time, they advocate responsible corporate and governmental policies to protect us. I also love EWG’s Healthy Living App. On the app, you can search food products as well.

All Natural Savings – Organic Coupons & Deals

I’m a deal finder so I love this site! Natural and organic coupons, store matchups, freebies, online deals, and price comparisons. You can even just search a brand to see if there are any recent coupons or deals. Print out coupons or sign up for text alerts if you’re into that too!

Think Dirty App

Think Dirty app is an easy way to learn about potentially toxic ingredients in your cosmetics and personal care products on the go. You just scan the product barcode or enter information into the search bar and Think Dirty will give you easy to understand info on the product, its ingredients and you can shop cleaner options. Think Dirty empowers ingredient conscious consumers to choose the safest beauty and personal care products with a database of 550k products, 3.8k brands, and 8.5M unique consumer scans.

Citrine Natural Beauty

I live in Arizona so I can visit the Citrine Beauty Bar here in Phoenix, but this website was my go-to when I started to order green beauty online and it still is today! Citrine offers free shipping for U.S. orders over $75 and free samples with purchase. They do online color matching, skin analysis and consultation, and have an awesome sample program. The website isn’t just an online store but features blog posts, tutorials and green beauty advice. And most important of all, I trust Citrine to only carry the best, super-clean, non-toxic beauty products. If you’re local, make sure you sign up for their newsletter to hear about the great events and classes they have in-store as well.

Mama Natural

Whether you’re pregnant, caring for your baby, interested in gentle parenting, or just want to be more natural yourself, you’ll find resources here to help. This site even has an entire week by week pregnancy guide from a natural perspective. You can sign up for the Mama Natural: 3 Things for Thursday newsletter. Every Thursday Genevieve aka Mama Natural sends an email with three quick tips to brighten your day and help you and your family lead a more natural life.

Food Babe

Through reading the investigations and information posted on FoodBabe.com, you can expect to learn the truth about harmful ingredients in processed foods and how to avoid the stuff the food industry is trying to hide. You will also learn how to make the right purchasing decisions in the grocery store so that you can create a life long habit of choosing healthy food. You can join Vani’s (The Food Babe) personal email list to stay up to date on hidden truths the food industry doesn’t want you to know about and the big changes that are happening in our food supply.

If you’re a non-toxic newbie like I was when I started this natural lifestyle overhaul last year, I suggest also checking out my post Where to start: Making the swap to natural beauty/personal care products

Lots of love and good health,
