Baby Must-Haves: 6-12 months

Btoys Wheeee-Is Soft Cars Playset

Lane loves these soft cars. These chunky vehicles come in a fun pack of four. You can pull the vehicles back and release them to self propel. Each of these toy cars sports a different color and shape, and makes different sounds so these are ideal for developing your little one’s auditory and motor skills.

Lane’s grandpa found them at Target and after I saw the unique packaging I had to find out more about the brand. The difference in their packaging goes way beyond the surface. They scrutinize every piece to ensure its impact on our children’s world is as light as possible. Here are some of the steps they take straight from their website:

  • Using recycled materials.
  • Packaging toys in bags you’ll love to reuse.
  • Designing boxes to become pretty trays to hold tiny treasures.
  • Even making some packages reversible to become gift wrap.
  • Our inks are soy-based and our varnishes water-based.
  • Every single bit of our clear plastic is recyclable and marked #1, the most widely recycled plastic available.

I love little differences like this that can make a big impact overall!

Green Toys Farm Playset

This Farm Playset is a toy that can grow with Lane and I look for that with all of the toys we purchase… That it will last and he could start to play with it when he was just crawling and continue to a year or years from now. We got this during a crazy good Christmas sale on Amazon! (Marked down from $50 to only $14). I’m all about epic deals!

The coolest part? This toy is made in the USA from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic milk jugs that save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. No BPA, phthalates or PVC. No external coatings, paints, or dyes. Even the packaging is made with recyclable materials with no plastic films or twist ties, and printed with soy ink.

We are minimalists when it comes to toys. You could count the amount of toys we have bought for Lane on one hand and the rest have come as gifts or hand me downs which has been so appreciated!

Ray’s Toys Wooden Pull Along Toy Set

Speaking of, this little toy set was a gift from Lane’s Auntie Kerry! The kit includes 3 wonderful wooden pull along animals… a zebra, elephant and giraffe.

Lane loves to drag these around the house and they can help your little ones develop balance, early walking and hand-eye coordination! These were made of non-toxic finishes and child safe materials with no small parts for choking hazard.

Tommy Bibs.jpg

Tommee Tippee Easi Roll Bib

We had so many cotton bibs and they just got so dirty and stained that it was definitely time to graduate to these! The “crumb catcher” collects food instead of it going on his lap or in the high chair. It rolls up, which is great for storage and travel. It’s made from soft and light material that is BPA Free. Wipes clean or washes easily in the sink. And my favorite part of these…no Velcro! Lane rips off all the velcro ones, but these have an adjustable hook system.

Miracle Cup

Munchkin Miracle 360 Trainer Cup

This has been a perfect transition cup for us. Lane naturally started to want to drink out of a cup after watching us do it and this is no spill (while drinking, but definitely spills when dropped) and I like that he doesn’t have to suck too hard and it flows naturally.

Baby Oil

Young Living Seedlings Baby Oil

For the first 6 months we mostly used coconut oil for Lane’s skin post bath, but after rave reviews we had to try this baby oil and it is now a favorite. We still switch off between making our own with coconut oil and Gentle Baby or Lavender essential oils and using this. It comes in a small bottle but has surprisingly lasted a very long time since a little goes a long way. Ingredients include Prickly Pear oil, Apricot oil, Ylang Ylang, Corriander, Bergamot and Lavender essential oils. It smells so good and makes his skin so soft!

The Seedlings line promises no alcohol, parabens, phthalates, petrochemicals, animal derived ingredients, mineral oil, synthetic preservatives, synthetic fragrances or synthetic dyes.

Young Living Rose Ointment

Lane has been blessed with some really soft, healthy skin overall, but he has had a few random patches of eczema that usually would go away after a few days. However; he had a patch on his bum that just wouldn’t go away and this was the only thing that worked! It’s a multi-use balm, so you can use it on dry skin patches, eczema, burns, scrapes, rashes, chapped lips etc. We love having something natural like this on hand as opposed to Aquaphor, Neosporin or Vaseline which have toxic ingredients.

Kidscents Essential Oils

First up, Sniffleease from the Kidscents line which features pre-diluted essential oil blends for children taking all the guess work out of it. You can just pop a roller ball directly on the original bottle. This blend has been so helpful for us lately! Lane had his first round of sniffles when we came back from a visit to snowy Minnesota and they went away quickly. We use this one in the diffuser or the bottoms of the feet. The blend has Eucalyptus Blue, Palo Santo, Lavender, Dorado Azul essential oils just to name a few.

Next, Sleepyize, also a Kidscents blend. I don’t even know how many bottles we have gone through of this, it’s kind of crazy. I started ordering this blend a month after Lane was born and we have it in almost every monthly wellness box. Includes Lavender, Roman Chamomile, Frankincense, Bergamot & Tangerine essential oils and we put in the diffuser before naps or bedtime.

Usborne Touchy Feely Books  & Lift the Flap Books

Lane loves both of these type of books. The touchy feely books have an object he can touch on each page and I think they are great for him to feel different textures and interact with the book while I’m reading. The lift the flap books are fun too, but can be dangerous for toddlers because of course he tries to rip off the flaps. He really loves the whole “peek a boo” and “surprise” thing right now so these books fit in perfectly with that theme.

Sprout Snacks

We love these organic toddler snacks from Sprout Foods that we get delivered from Amazon. Lane’s favorite are the beet & berry crispy chews, but he loves all the snacks we have tried from this brand and I feel good about the clean, short list of organic ingredients.

When it comes to toddler and baby snacks out there on the shelves, even most of the organic ones have preservatives, added sugars and other unnecessary artificial fillers.

We love these snacks for on the go because there are no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives, no added sugars, they are organic, non-gmo, gluten free, and sprout is the first national brand to use rosemary for freshness!

Thanks for reading!

Lots of love and good health,

Tasha, The Non-Toxic Newbie
